2013 Feb. UNE

A Magical Evening Of Friendship and Flavors

Our February Friendship Dinner at the José A. (Tony) Santana International School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts at the Universidad del Este in Carolina (organized by our Skalleague and the school’s dean Ivan Puig) was one of those Wow! nights when everything was perfect…and if you don’t believe me, listen to this:

“Ivan, Felicitaciones a ti y a tu equipo !!!! Anoche fue una noche espectacular. Los chicos se botaron!!!” says Skalleague Bernice Cordero, who gave an unqualified five star rating to UNE.

SIPR Secretary and past president Irene Castillo had this to say to Ivan:

“I wanted to take a moment and thank you and your team for an incredible dinner experience last night.  The service, ambiance, entertainment and food couldn’t have been more spectacular… thank you for this magical evening.”

Skalleague Fernando Sánchez Latiegui’s opinion was “Estuvo fantástica, todo absolutamente impeccable,” as he sent congratulations to Iván, to former dean and Skalleague Omar Pagan, and to the whole team that was involved in the event.

Skalleague and board member Lizette Perez  enthused “Todo quedó de show. Cada vez queda mejor!!!,” a thought shared by President-Elect Robert Rodriguez who said “Yop!!! Siempre hacen algo brutal pero este año se esmandaron!!”

Felix Mulero, our Skalleague and F&B expert at the Intercontinental, offered this compliment, “ Excelente experiencia culinaria, gran calidad de servicio, la ambientación perfecta, el meridaje de vinos espectacular!! Great Job Iván !! Two thumbs up!! Cheers!”

There were 43 Skalleagues and guests, among them Hon. Angel Matos, the new Commissioner for Tourism of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives and the Sales Development and E-commerce manager at American Airlines Héctor (Tato) Montanez. As is our tradition, many members brought a spouse in honor of Valentine’s Day and Irene made sure the evening was even more sweet with a parting gift of chocolates.

SIPR President Ronald Flores Sr. asked Ivan to accept the club’s sincere gratitude for a superb event. “It was obvious to everyone that your team-- administrators, faculty and students -- share a passion for excellence. The service, food, wine, explanations of the wine pairings and the chef's comments of the food, could not have been done better. The mimes, the music and the agape after the dinner were all first rate. We have always enjoyed the wonderful Skal dinners we have had in the past at UNE, but this one tops them all!”
